Pre-validate GST before you settle

Use the ClaimDS Smart GST pre-validation tool to scan your credit and debit notes for compliance issues before the GSTR-1 filing window — fix blockers first, so settlements don't break your return.

Catching a GST problem after you've filed is expensive; catching it before settlement is cheap. The ClaimDS Smart GST pre-validation tool scans your credit and debit notes for compliance issues ahead of the GSTR-1 filing window, so you fix them on your terms rather than the tax portal's.

This tool flags likely compliance issues from your own data; it isn't a substitute for your tax team's review or for the current law. Treat its findings as a checklist, not a ruling.

Blockers versus warnings

The scan separates issues that block settlement from those that are merely worth fixing. A blocker will be rejected at settlement by design — that's the safety net that stops a non-compliant document from quietly flowing into your return. Clear the blockers, and the warnings, before you settle.

Run the check

Follow the numbered steps below. Pair this with GST credit notes explained for the background, and run it before running a settlement.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Smart → GST pre-validate

Go to the Smart area and open GST pre-validate. It scans your credit notes and debit notes for GST-compliance issues before they reach the GSTR-1 filing window.

  2. Run the scan

Run the check over the documents for the period you're about to file or settle. ClaimDS computes the findings from your own data — the tool flags issues, it doesn't invent numbers.

  3. Read the findings

Review what the scan returns. Issues marked as blockers will be rejected at settlement; lower-severity findings are worth fixing but won't stop you.

  4. Fix the blockers first

Resolve each blocker at source — a missing particular, a mismatched value, an invalid identifier — then re-run the scan to confirm it's clear.

  5. Proceed to settle

Once the blockers are clear, continue to settlement knowing the documents won't fail compliance when they hit the return.

Frequently asked

Is GST pre-validation available on every plan?

It's one of the Smart tools, which are subscription-gated. If you don't see it, check your plan under Settings → Billing.

Does the tool file my GST return?

No. It checks your credit and debit notes for compliance issues before the filing window so you can fix them; filing itself stays in your hands.
